The Balsillie Campus
The Balsillie Campus Project
Contractor: Cooper Construction
The Balsillie Campus is a 114,000 square foot project situated adjacent to the existing CIGI building on the corner of Erb St. and Father David Bauer Drive in Uptown Waterloo. It is the only site in Canada bounded by three Governor General Award-wining buildings - the Seagram Museum (current home of CIGI), the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery. The new Balsillie Campus is a $50 million dollar project consisting of approximately 55,000 sq ft of exterior glazing, 16,000 sq ft of interior glazing, as well as a zinc and aluminum paneling system. The curtainwall is a 4 sided structural silicone joint type frame made from Oldcastle Building Envelopes Fulwal IV series. The campus is part of the K.I.P (Knowledge Infrastructure Program), which is an initiative aimed at renewing the infrastructure of Canadian colleges and universities.
This new campus will house several graduate schools and programs including the Balsillie School of International Affairs. The Campus will be open for September 2011.
